The dietary and nutritional needs of our patients are diagnosed and managed by our highly skilled and experienced Registered Dieticians. They plan, develop and implement healthy eating guidelines and nutrition. In addition, they provide instruction on modifying eating plans. During Your Hospital Stay FirstLight’s dietitians are integral members of the health care team providing care to patients while in the hospital and, if needed, after discharge. Patients identified to be at nutritional risk – through discussion at daily team meetings or by nutritional screening – will be assessed and nutrition interventions will be planned and initiated. Scheduling Nutritional Education Call your insurance carrier to verify that nutrition counseling is a covered benefit. A referral is necessary in most cases to see a registered dietitian. Ask your provider for a referral. When referral has been ordered, a representative from FirstLight will call you to arrange an appointment with one of our dietitians.
