Retirement letter for Mary Lagaard, DNP- February 7, 2019

January 22, 2019

Dear Patients,

After twenty-two years of advanced practice nursing, I’ve made  notice of my retirement from FirstLight Health System. My last day  will be Thursday, February 7, 2019.

I am grateful for your tolerance of my bad jokes, crazy brainstorming moments and most of all, for the opportunity to be your healthcare advocate.

As I transition to retirement, there are three projects at the top of my priority list including: one with Best Buy and the University of Saint Catherine Occupational Therapy Department that explores the use of technology to help older adults stay at home longer. Another, working with the Sisters of Saint Joseph on a few social justice issues and lastly, planning and planting a Hundred Year Forest with my husband as the climate continues to change. I’m sure there will be plenty of skiing and grandchildren time as well.

As many of you already know, my former student, Stephanie Piche (APRN) is specifically trained in geriatrics and would be a wonderful choice to meet your unique healthcare needs in the future. There are also a host of family FirstLight medicine providers whom I trust with your care:

Matt Allen, MD
Danielle Bergman, MD
Renee Coleman, PA
Donald Dahlen, MD
Pete Donner, MD
Barb Ennis, NP
Ryan Gaalswyk, MD

Ingrid Kaijage, MD
Katie Kroschel, MD
Ryan Kroschel, MD
Amy McDaniel, PA
Sandy Moore, NP
Matt Schultz, MD
Jack Schwinghamer, MD

Thank you again for allowing me to be your healthcare provider. Please call (320) 679-1313, and a member of FirstLight’s Care Team will work with you to help you find a new provider.

Kindest regards, Mary Lagaard, DNP
